Mates4Mates supports current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members (and their families) who are wounded, injured or ill as a result of their service.
The general public owe a debt of gratitude to the armed forces that protect us. Irrespective of your opinion on war, these men and women choose to serve our country with a view of maintaining our valued way of life.
Garra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is honoured to be working with these men and women. Showing how Jiu Jitsu can bring a positive change to one’s mind and body.
Set in a fun yet supportive environment, Garra not only teaches the techniques of Jiu Jitsu but nurtures the building of friendship and belonging that all human beings need and deserve.
It is so rewarding teaching these men and women, seeing them having a great time. It fills me with joy that I can give back to the community and the country that has accepted me as one of their own and a country I have grown to love so much!
Initiatives like Mates4Mates is what makes our world so wonderful. People helping people. It shows me there is still so much good in the world.
Classes are on Thursdays from 10am to 11am at Garra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy Kelvin Grove.
Please if you are from Mates4Mates you are very welcome to come along and give it a go!
