As a child, Fred started to train Jiu Jitsu at Nova Uniao Head Quarters in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which was across the road from his house. His instructor was the head coach Andre Pederneiras who coaches UFC champion Jose Aldo and former UFC champion Renan Barao. Fred moved to Brisbane five years ago and began training at Garra HQ. Fred was awarded his black belt by Eduardo Dias in 2015.
Fred has won many tournaments at the young age in Brazil, including national and Rio de Janeiro state championships, in Australia he has won gold in tournaments for the QBJJL, ABJJF and QBJJC. Fred teach great private classes and is very down to earth person too. Fred has been teaching BJJ since he was purple belt.
