  • Yes, all instructors are highly trained and certified to safely guide students in their BJJ journey.

  • Each class includes a warm-up, technique demonstrations, partner drills (“rolling”), and a cool-down with stretching.

  • Rolling is free-form sparring where students apply techniques learned in class in a controlled, safe setting.

For Beginners

    • Yes! Beginner-friendly classes are available every day, with sessions from morning to night.

  • Comfortable athletic wear, preferably compression or sports attire. Avoid clothing with zippers, pockets, or buttons.

  • Not at all. BJJ will help you build fitness and cardio. No prior fitness is required.

  • Yes, many new students join Garra regularly, and beginner classes are designed with newcomers in mind.

  • Arrive 15 minutes early to fill out a waiver and health questionnaire.

  • Absolutely! They can join the class or watch from the viewing area.

Visitors & Short-Term Memberships

    • Yes, visitors from interstate and overseas are welcome. Visitor memberships are available for stays up to one month (fees apply).

  • Yes. FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) workers receive 30% off regular membership. Proof of FIFO employment is required upon sign-up.

Uniform & Equipment

    • Yes. All Garra members must wear the official team uniform in Gi and NoGi classes and competitions to promote unity and team identity.

  • No. Trial students, drop-ins, and visitors can wear their own gear.

  • Yes, Garra-approved apparel is available for purchase at the gym or online.

  • Comfortable athletic wear, preferably compression or sports attire. Avoid clothing with zippers, pockets, or buttons.

  • Bring water, a towel, and flip-flops (thongs) for walking outside the mat area.
